Clay, silver and handmade glass jewelry
After 25 years as a production potter, Cheri is switching to a lighter form of Clay - .999 percent fine silver for jewelry called Silver Art Clay or Precious Metal Clay. And Dallas has taken up flame work beadmaking and lets Cheri use it and her silver in necklaces, bracelets, earrings and more. Single beads in both mediums also available. Cheri is still trying to work in stoneware clay for kimonos, garden art, fountains and other sculptures, some of which are shown in the gardens. We are offering classes in the Silver Art /PMC Clay. Schedules and all information about classes is on our web site at www.cheriplatter.com You are invited to view the process when you visit the studio. "I have not given up clay as of yet because the medium still intrigues me to sculpt kimonos, robes and dress forms for garden or home." Cheri still has her rose garden, (although it has gotten a bit smaller), hosta and shade garden, perennial garden (working on simplifying this one also). Who knew there would be such delight working in common materials?

Lampworked glass beads
Welding comes second nature to him so hot glass beads with a torch was a breeze. Cheri uses his creations to make necklaces, earrings, bracelets and pendants. For 2009, Dallas's emphasis on lampwork beads will be "new and different styles incorporating silver foil and unusual shapes."
