Oil & Acrylic Paintings

Laura Bulla is a self-taught artist residing in beautiful Brown County, Indiana. She has been painting in oils and acrylics for more than 30 years.

In the 1980’s she worked as an in-house craftsperson at a leather gallery in Nashville. There she specialized in artworks constructed in leather, such as sculptures and wall hangings.

Her current paintings reflect the love of line utilized in leather carving. Bold curves and bright colors carry the eye through the varied subjects in her “Daydream Series”. Special attention is paid to compositional movement, and brushwork, which keeps the work fresh and lively. She depicts her subjects in a whimsical manner, celebrating the imagination, and revealing fantastic moments in everyday life.

Laura’s en plein air and studio landscapes reflect both local scenes and tropical environments discovered in travels. Many of these works focus on the abstract nature of nature.

Indiana winters find her in the studio revisiting those moments in paradise through the tip of her brush.

Artist Statement:

“There shouldn’t be any restrictions when expressing ones’ self artistically. I find my best work comes out when I embrace this freedom. Hopefully the passion and wonder I experience through my art will be transferred to the viewer.”
